Skilled Worker route
Sponsored work in the UK, and how to line up your job search with it.
Checked against gov.uk on 22 Oct 2026
Who this is for: Graduates and workers with a job offer from a licensed UK sponsor.
To use the Skilled Worker route you need a confirmed job offer from an employer approved by the Home Office. The employer gives you a Certificate of Sponsorship with the details of the role. You can apply up to 3 months before the start date on it.
The job must be on the list of eligible occupations and must pay at least the minimum salary. The salary level depends on the type of work and on the date the certificate was issued, and the rules have changed several times. Always read the current figures on gov.uk and the Home Office guidance. You also need to show your English.
